On February 3, 2025, flight HU791 departed from Haikou Meilan International Airport (hereinafter referred to as Meilan Airport), a subsidiary of Hainan Development Holdings Ltd., heading to Narita International Airport in Tokyo, Japan (hereinafter referred to as Narita Airport). This marks the official launch of the Haikou-Tokyo (Narita) route, making it Meilan Airport's second Japanese destination after Osaka. This new route creates favorable conditions for more passengers to travel freely and conveniently between Hainan Free Trade Port and Japan.

It is reported that this route is operated by Hainan Airlines and will be flown every Monday. The seat occupancy rate for the inaugural flight exceeded 90%. The outbound flight HU791 is scheduled to depart from Meilan Airport at 07:55 Beijing time and arrive at Narita Airport at 13:30 local time. The return flight HU792 is scheduled to depart from Narita Airport at 14:35 local time and arrive at Meilan Airport at 20:15 Beijing time.
