On September 8, 2025, a Boeing 767 full freighter carrying approximately 37 tons of cargo successfully took off from Meilan Airport, a subsidiary of Hainan Development Holdings Ltd. After a stopover at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus, it continued its journey to Rome's Fiumicino Airport, marking the official launch of the "Haikou-Cyprus-Rome" cargo flight route. This new route expands the air logistics corridor between Hainan Free Trade Port and the Eurasian region, further enhancing the efficiency of cargo distribution between Hainan Free Trade Port and major European cities.
In the future, Meilan Airport will closely align with its strategic goal of becoming a regional aviation hub oriented towards the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It will work collaboratively on three fronts: "airline network + service ecosystem + intelligent facilities," continuously optimizing its cargo flight network and enhancing cross-border air logistics services. This will provide strong support for the high-quality development of Hainan Free Trade Port's air logistics industry and export-oriented economy.
