In the early hours of August 26, flight HU765 departed from Haikou Meilan International Airport (hereinafter referred to as “Meilan Airport”), under Hainan Holdings, marking the inaugural flight of the Haikou-Moscow direct route. This is the first regular direct passenger route to Russia opened by Haikou this year. The route offers more convenient travel options for business cooperation, tourism, cultural exchanges, and visiting relatives between the two regions, while further expanding Hainan Free Trade Port’s global connectivity.

     As of 2024, Meilan Airport has operated a total of 36 international and regional passenger routes, connecting to destinations in Hong Kong and Macau regions, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, and Europe, with enhanced accessibility to overseas countries and regions. Moving forward, Meilan Airport will continue to focus on overseas route expansion, with plans to launch flights from Haikou to Seattle, Tokyo, and other destinations. These efforts aim to accelerate the airport’s transformation into a regional gateway hub for the Pacific and Indian Oceans, facilitating Hainan Free Trade Port’s high-level opening-up.
