Since early May, as Hainan enters the peak season for lychee production and sales, Haikou Meilan International Airport (hereinafter referred to as Meilan Airport), a subsidiary of Hainan Development Holdings Ltd., has implemented a series of measures tailored to the characteristics of lychee transportation—freshness, urgency, and speed. These measures include implementing a "time-segmented collection and transport" mechanism, adding dedicated lychee air freight routes, and opening green security check channels, all of which ensured the smooth delivery of lychees to destinations across the country and the successful completion of the 2025 lychee season air transport support work. According to statistics, from May 15 to June 16, Meilan Airport handled a total of 5,667 tons of outbound lychees, a year-on-year increase of 164%. On June 8 alone, the airport's outbound cargo and mail volume exceeded 697 tons, setting a new historical record for single-day outbound volume, with lychees accounting for approximately 50% of that day's cargo.

Looking ahead, Meilan Airport will focus on promoting the integration of air transport capacity resources, working with multiple airlines to optimize belly cargo space on passenger aircraft, and continuously expanding the scope of its "aviation + agricultural products" specialized services. The goal is to build a high-quality, efficient air logistics hub and provide strong air transport support for the external sales of Hainan's signature agricultural products.
